Sofa and Corner Suite Restoration
Sagging seat cushions, worn armrests, faded colour. Full cycle: cleaning, leather softening, filling, re-colouring, protection.
More about this serviceFrom Sztum we most often get furniture — sofas and corner sofas that are too good to throw away and too worn to leave as they are.
A corner sofa in real leather can outlive two sets of faux-leather furniture. The trouble is that it wears unevenly: the seats and armrests lose colour and grain, while the backs look almost new.
We clean, soften stiffened areas, fill worn spots, then re-colour the whole thing evenly and protect it. With unpigmented leathers — aniline and semi-aniline — we use different chemistry from pigmented furniture, because an opaque coating would kill their natural grain pattern.
Yes, on pigmented leathers. It's a common reason people bring furniture in: the sofa is solid, but its colour no longer suits the room.
With corner sofas it's usually enough to bring the removable covers and cushions. If the piece can't be taken apart, we arrange transport for the whole thing — from Sztum it's about an hour's drive.
Each of these services has its own page — with a description, the course of work and photos.

More about this serviceFilling with repair compound and recreating the leather grain, so the repaired area doesn't stand out as a smooth patch.
More about this serviceUncoated leathers need different chemistry and a different technique than pigmented car upholstery — otherwise the finish comes off along with the dirt.
More about this serviceThe starting point for every restoration. On dirty leather no colour or protector will hold.
More about this serviceA leather sofa from a dozen or so years ago usually has a better frame and thicker leather than a new piece of furniture at the same price. It wears in three places: on the seats, on the headrests from hair and on the armrests from hands. The rest of the leather is usually in good condition, just faded.
The first question with furniture: pigmented, aniline or semi-aniline leather. Pigmented leather has a coating with pigment and is restored much like car upholstery. Aniline has no coating — it absorbs everything, including the wrong colour, so it needs completely different products. Confusing the two ends in stains that can no longer be undone.
Cleaning, filling worn areas on the seats and armrests, colouring the whole piece in one shade and protecting it. With corner sofas we also agree whether to restore the whole set or only the most worn modules.
The workshop is in Gdańsk, ul. Litewska 12 — Sztum is about 54 km away in a straight line.
Send a photo of the whole thing and a close-up of the damage, or just give us a call. From that we tell you whether it can be saved.
We give you the scope of work and the price. If restoration isn't worth it, we'll say so plainly — it happens, and it's better to hear it before than after.
Cleaning, damage repair, re-colouring, protection. On larger jobs we send you progress photos.
We tell you what to care for the leather with and what damages it fastest. That usually decides whether the result lasts for years.
The quickest way is this: a photo of the whole item, a close-up of the damage and a note on what the item or part is. On that basis we'll tell you whether it can be saved and what it will cost.
