Leather restoration — Kartuzy
Kashubia means touring motorcycles and quad bikes, so from Kartuzy we mainly get seats — worn, coming unstuck and waterlogged.
A motorcycle seat works in conditions in which no furniture upholstery would stand a chance: rain, sun, friction and constant flexing at the edges. The seams and bonded edges go first, then the foam soaks up water and stops springing back.
What we do with the seat
We re-stitch, fit a new cover and repair lifting edges. If the foam has already broken down or is waterlogged, we replace it together with the cover — a new cover on tired foam looks good for a month.
Materials
For seats we use materials resistant to water and UV, with stitching run so that water doesn't collect in the seams.
Quads and scooters
We do them the same way. With a quad there's usually mud pressed into the seams — that's a matter of cleaning before work, not replacement.

A motorcycle or quad seat is exposed to everything: sun, rain, mud and friction every time you get on. The seams and edges give way first, and through an opened seam water gets into the foam, which then rots from the inside.
Repair or a new cover
We repair and colour wear and cracks in the finish. We re-stitch opened seams. If the cover is torn over a large area or the foam has soaked up water, we suggest a new cover — with seats it's often the most sensible option.
Before the season
The best time is winter: the seat is off, and the motorcycle is standing in the garage anyway.
