Interior repair after an accident

After a collision, the insurer usually quotes for replacing the whole set — because that's the simplest way to work it out. In reality one seat, one bolster or one door card may be damaged while the rest of the interior is fine. Replacement then means the new part doesn't match the shade of the neighbouring ones, worn by normal use.

Rebuilding the damaged part is cheaper and gives you a consistent interior. On older cars it is often the only way, because the original covering is simply no longer available.

How we do it

• Inspection of the whole interior, not just the damaged spot — we need to know what we're matching the colour to.
• Removing the part; we do this in-house, without sending it to another workshop.
• Repairing tears and filling worn areas, or cutting a new section from leather selected for the vehicle.
• Matching colour and grain to the neighbouring, used parts.
• Refitting and checking that everything goes back where it belongs.

Before you call

Take photos before you hand the car over to the body shop — once it's stripped it's harder to tell what was damaged. Photos of the undamaged parts help too: they show what level of wear the repair has to be matched to.

If the claim is being settled by an insurer, we issue a quote in a form they will accept.
