Painting and dyeing

Colours matched to the type of leather: one kind for pigmented car upholstery, another for aniline and semi-aniline furniture leather.

The most common reason people come to us: the colour is no longer even. Lighter areas where you sit and grip, darker ones where dirt collects, and worn spots where you can see leather with no coating.

Re-colouring is not “painting the seat”. The colour has to suit the type of leather, otherwise it either won't bond to the surface or will turn a soft material into a stiff crust that cracks at the first fold.

How we choose the colour

  • Pigmented car upholstery — opaque colours that withstand abrasion and cabin temperatures.
  • Aniline and semi-aniline — translucent dyes that leave the grain pattern visible.
  • Leathers with a pronounced grain also need the grain recreated after re-colouring.

How we do it

  • Cleaning and degreasing, removing the remains of the old, flaking coating.
  • Colour matching — we mix to the existing shade, with a test on a hidden area.
  • Applying in thin coats, drying between them.
  • Protection with a topcoat in a matt or satin finish.

Spot or whole

Re-colouring just the worn area almost never looks right — fresh colour stands out against the faded surroundings. So by default we re-colour the whole surface of the part; it costs little more, and the difference in appearance is fundamental.

Leather treatments — other services

Leather cleaning

The starting point for every restoration. On dirty leather no colour or protector will hold.

Leather softening

Leather exposed to the sun goes stiff — fastest of all in a car. Softening brings back its suppleness before it starts to crack.

Impregnation and protection

Products that protect against UV, water and denim dye transfer — the most common cause of stains on light-coloured seats.

Leather de-glossing

With long use, leather turns shiny where it is touched. De-glossing brings back its factory matt look.
